He literally said he hates China, quotably, and I watched as his veins popped out on his forehead. He means it, but I love China. My father, the only living person I respect and trust and revere, immigrated the longer harder way because he refused to denounce China. He wouldn’t seek asylum for the quick easy version of immigration because that was an unacceptable demand in his eyes, and he is right. Meanwhile I’m dating and falling for someone who Has Some Real Issues. He really doesn’t think anyone is a human being except people in his direct immediate circle of trust, and I i know it’s not malicious or fueled by real racial or sexual hatred, but what a Goddamn conundrum huh? I actually seem to have feelings for a person who stands for everything I truly hate about the modern world. Misogyny and racism, anti-sino attitudes, not realizing that women are real human people, and obsession with toxic presentations of “masculinity”, all of it. Why does my dumb pile of chemicals (brain) want this?

It’s great that other countries are doing something but please keep in mind that the Brazilian goverment has to be held accountable for the damage they have done even after this crisis is resolved.
